Purpose of Position/Overview:
Our client club is committed to the development and preservation of all its playing facilities, both golf and tennis, to include the use of modern technology and methodology to facilitate objectives. The SG is responsible for assisting the Course Superintendent (CS) and his/her deputies in delivering predetermined objectives/projects as required.
As a senior greenkeeper in the club you will hold a significant role, being an important member of the team who conducts the maintenance and enhancement of the course to ensure optimal playing conditions. Responsibilities include managing turf health, irrigation systems, pest control, and fertilisation, as well as being a part of a team of ground staff. The position requires knowledge of agronomy, landscaping, and environmental sustainability, along with strong organisational and problem-solving skills. Your expertise ensures the golf course remains visually appealing, playable, and aligned with industry standards, directly impacting on member satisfaction and the club’s reputation. Experience in horticulture, machinery operation, and team leadership is essential for this role.

2. 13 Tennis Courts with 8 All-Weather Courts, 2 of which are covered and 5 Lawn Tennis Courts. 3 Padel Courts

The SG is responsible for assisting the Course Superintendent (CS) and his/her deputies in delivering predetermined objectives/projects as required. In
doing so, continuous application of industry best practice shall be expected by the SG.
Reporting Structure:
You shall work as per predetermined plans and objectives agreed with the CS and his/her deputies. At all times you should report any difficulties which you may have with specific job tasks. In the absence of the CS the First Assistant Superintendent (FAS) shall assume the role of CS on a day-to-day capacity.
Primary Role & Responsibilities:
Below is an outline of daily responsibilities of the SG. This is a general outline and is not inclusive of all duties. The list of tasks is intended to be comprehensive but not exhaustive, and consequently, any reasonable task may be added to this list over time. Tasks will include (but not be limited to) the following:
1. Mowing of greens (pedestrian and “ride-on”)
2. Mowing of fairways.
3.Course Set-Up.
4. Tree pruning/cutting
5.Irrigation system repairs.
6. Pesticide applications.
7. Strimming.
8. Fly-mowing of riverbank.
8. Edging and raking of bunkers etc
9. General duties from cleaning sweeping paths to assisting in cleaning of wood debris.
10. Weeding of shrub/flower beds.
11. Assistance in project delivery. 12. Mowing and general maintenance of the Tennis facilities and clubhouse garden areas.
Health & Safety: At all times you will only be expected to undertake duties where proper training and safety equipment have been made available. At no time should tasks or operation of equipment be undertaken where the proper training/instruction has not been given. All safety equipment and clothing/footwear provided must be looked after and available for use as and when required. Failure to have required equipment which has been provided for use may result in been sent home with loss of pay. Defects in safety equipment must be reported
Presentation & Interaction:
As a member of the course team, you will be provided with uniform and required safety equipment. At all times you will be expected to present yourself to work in a clean and hygienic manor with the required uniform worn. You will be expected to be courteous and respectful to work colleges and all members of the club and public at all times.
Continuous Development:
The SG is expected to continuously update their knowledge and skill set as required in line with industry’s best practice. Support will be provided to assist the SG in attending training that is deemed appropriate and beneficial to the role.
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Minimum of a level 6 qualification in sportsturf science, or level 7 in related field. Level 6 in related field may be applicable in the case of a candidate with 6 plus years post graduate experience in sportsturf management.
2. Minimum of 4 years post-graduation experience in sportsturf management.
3. In the absence of no formal training by a recognised educational facility an individual may qualify as a SG with a minimum of 10 years sportsturf management experience with a proven track record and competence in the requisite skill sets.
4. Competent in the use of all conventional Landcare machinery inclusive of tractors.

Salary is open and commensurate with qualifications and experience. The club offers an excellent all round package including basic salary, weekend premium, pension contributions, holiday / sick pay and meals on duty.
