Full job description:

The Royal Dublin Golf Club, founded in 1885, is a traditional private members golf
club which also caters to overseas visiting golfers. We are currently seeking a
hardworking, motivated and career focused individual to join our team as a 1 st
Assistant/Spray Tech. 


1 st Assistant/Spray Technician


This is an entry level management position that requires
excellent communication and organisational skills. If you have a real passion for the
greenkeeping industry and are committed to achieving the goal of being a head
greenkeeper one day, day, please read through the responsibilities and requirements
outlined below.


Responsibilities of the 1st Assistant

  • · Ability to carry out all greenkeeping tasks to a high standard.
  • · Coordinate with the management team with the preparation, implementation, and oversight of day to     day tasks and future course plans.
  • · Carry out your role as a supervisor as directed by the Links Manager & Deputy Links Manager.
  • · Essential to lead by example, and develop the practical skills and awareness of the greenkeeping team.
  • · Liaise with the Links Manager and Deputy Links Manager with any areas you identify that might improve the overall management of the links, paying particular attention to greenkeeping staff day to day performance.
  • · Have a good level of attention to detail with the ability to act autonomously when minor issues arise and conferring with the Links Manager when appropriate.
  •  The ability to be flexible in relation to working hours, assisting the management team to oversee work outside of the standard working day.


 Responsibilities of the Spray Technician

  • · Safely apply pesticides and fertilisers across the links to maintain turf health, aesthetics and playability.
  • · Operate and maintain spray equipment such as – sprayers, spreaders and knapsacks.
  • · Maintain accurate records of all applications as well as a monthly inventory check.
  • · Assist in proper storage and disposal of chemicals and fertilisers.
  • · Insist on the highest of standards in relation to washing all equipment upon completion of every application.
  • · Requires a good level of knowledge for all chemicals and fertilisers used on the links.


Requirements;

  • · A driven individual with a keen focus on improving weaknesses.
  • · The ability to work as part of a team and on one's own initiative.
  • · Candidate must have a good attitude towards learning new skills.
  • · To be available for work Monday through Sunday (1 weekend a month).
  • · Excellent time keeping and an understanding of how a golf course should be presented are both key requirements.
  • · Full driving license.


Remuneration:

  • · An hourly wage of €19.00 per hour plus overtime, will be offered to the successful candidate.
  • · Overtime is paid weekdays at time and a half and double time on weekends.
  • · The Club has a defined contribution pension scheme that employees can join.
  • · VHI (health insurance) available to our staff.
  • · The Club will also support staff on any education that they pursue which will be of benefit to the Club in the role they are fulfilling.
