Kirkistown Castle Golf Club was founded in 1902 and re-designed by James Braid in 1934. It is the
most easterly golf course in Ireland on the Ards peninsula.
It is the closest links course to Belfast and enjoys spectacular sea views to the Isle of Man and beyond with well drained sandy soils making it a popular seaside course.
The Club requires an ambitious new Head Greenkeeper to take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the golf course, the preparation and management of budgets whilst reporting to the Club Council.
The Head Greenkeeper will be responsible for:
The day-to-day management of the golf course, golf course maintenance facility and practice facilities
Daily course set-up
The line management of the golf course maintenance team, currently three staff
Preparation of risk assessments and compliance with current health and safety legislation
Preparation, management and monitoring of annual maintenance budgets
Preparation of monthly course reports
The Head Greenkeeper shall report to the Club Council via the Green’s Convenor and may be required to attend Green Sub committee meetings or Council Meetings as necessary.
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
Links experience preferred but not essential
Experience of managing budgets and preparing written and verbal reports
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or be able to demonstrate experience in a previous similar management role
PA1, PA2 and PA6 spraying certificates
Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills
A hands-on work ethic and ability to motivate and lead a small team
Willingness to work outside normal working hours as required.
