Abbeyleix Golf Club is seeking applications for the position of Golf Course Assistant to join our dedicated course maintenance team.

Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent (Head Greenkeeper), the successful candidate will assist in maintaining and presenting our beautiful 18-hole parkland course to the highest possible standards for members and visitors.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in their work, and is interested in developing a career in golf course maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the golf course.
• Mow greens, tees, fairways, surrounds and rough to the required standard.
• Prepare the course for daily play, including course set-up, changing holes and moving tee markers.
• Maintain bunkers, repair divots and pitch marks, and carry out general course repairs.
• Assist with irrigation, drainage and course improvement projects.
• Operate and maintain a range of golf course machinery safely and effectively.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety procedures.
• Undertake any other duties as directed by the Course Superintendent.

The Ideal Candidate

• A positive attitude with a strong work ethic.
• Enjoys working outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Previous experience in greenkeeping, horticulture, landscaping or grounds maintenance is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
• A full, clean driving licence is an advantage.

The role requires flexibility, including early morning starts and weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis.
