Malahide golf club is excited to be looking for a motivated, positive, and enthusiastic individual to take on this leadership position. The Deputy Golf Course Superintendent will have full involvement in all aspects of managing the golf course, and this is the ideal position for someone who wants to learn, grow, be challenged, and continuously push for improvement.
Malahide Golf Club is a 27-Hole members club located in Malahide Co. Dublin. Malahide Golf Club was founded in 1892. The club has a healthy and active membership. The golf course is a parkland course that is very much enjoyed by members and guests. The club have and continued to improve the golf course and facilities over the past number of years and are now starting to create a master plan to steer the club over the next numbers of years.
The successful candidate will :
• Be fully involved with, and responsible for, overseeing the maintenance, operation and management of golf course, practice facilities, club house environs, machinery fleet and maintenance facilities.
• Be responsible for any aspects of staff management related to full/part-time seasonal staff, Team of 11 and additional team members for the summer season.
• Be responsible for supervising and training staff in the field, using technology to prioritize and coordinate tasks with the Course Manager.
• Ensure all work is completed by the team in a safe and efficient manner to the expected standard.
• Contribute to the development of the club’s standard operating procedures for the majority of maintenance tasks.
• Help develop the data collection portion of the operation.
• Lead the team during in-house projects and work with key staff to review the irrigation, fertility and chemical components of the operation.
• In the absence of the Golf Course Superintendent, be responsible for making decisions and fulfil those responsibilities.
• Work closely with and learn from the course superintendent and take part in discussions with the club’s consultant.
Qualifications:
• 5 years minimum working experience on a golf course along with a desire to eventually become a Course Manager/Golf Course Superintendent.
• Degree in turfgrass management.
• Prior irrigation maintenance and spraying experience with the required qualifications
• Construction and/or leadership experience is an asset.
